How to be a good daughter

  1. Step 1

Take the time to help your parents. Do little things for them. Help around the house. They've done things for you all your life. Now it's time to give back and help them.

  1. Step 2

Listen to what they say. They've always been telling you how to do things. Make sure you take the time to really hear what they suggest. They have your best interest at heart. You don't have to take all their advice, but you can make better decisions if you listen to what they are telling you.

  1. Step 3

Be compassionate. Be someone they can come to in a crisis. Offer your understanding. They have helped you since you were a baby. Now it's time to return the favor. Help them when they're feeling tired or ill.

  1. Step 4

Visit just for the sake of seeing them. You don't want to show up just when you need something. Show them you care by seeing them. Be a good daughter and take the time to sit and talk with your parents.

  1. Step 5

Bring the grandchildren. Grandparents love spending time with your kids; so don't get too busy to bring them over to visit. You want your parents and your children to build a good relationship.

  1. Step 6

Offer to have family gatherings at your house. Parents often have all the traditional holiday celebrations at their home and they often invite all of their extended family. Take the load off of their shoulders and have the gatherings at your own home. Your parents can enjoy the festivities without having to do all the work.

  1. Step 7

Be the family negotiator. Keep the family talking. Help stop the fights and disagreements. Clear up all the misunderstandings. Families are made up of many different people so sometimes they see things differently. You can be a good daughter and help keep everyone communicating.
